bruz : ombilicum / side effects : ambient material + music from the magnificent unknowns.
Here i'll write on music found over there in the cloud, material, vst plugs, ways of recording, mixing in the field of ambient music, experimental, new age, cinematic, drone sort of thing. + Every week-end, you'll find 2 tracks from artists that spend their timetransforming sounds into language (woaw).

my week-end ambient pick #22 : Schindling

Christoph Schindling's work is not exclusively ambient, but that track " Wave-Breaking" has something hypnotizing. the thing is when it stops, you put it on again.

Soniccouture : ondes martenot

Soniccouture is a London based company that releases amazing virtual instruments and samples. Their latest work was quite a challenge as they decided to capture the intriguing unique sound of Ondes Martenot.

You'll get all details on what that extraterrestrial instrument is all about here : http://www.soniccouture.com/en/products/g27-ondes/  and listen to no less than 15 demo tracks to see the extent of its capacities. Spooky.

There's a nice video too i'll share here where you get a live performance of the beast with specialist Jean Laurendeau :

Funny thing i remember when Radiohead came over to France for a special private concert on TV : they couln't find enough Ondes players around to perform for the show. I guess it takes some kind of eccentricity to deal with the alien ! that's what Soniccouture is about also.

my week-end ambient pick #16 : myself

This is one by myself, Arrakis, from Ombilicum V. Dreamlands.
I worked on a basis of layered guitars, with a simple rhythm, then added on some bits of recordings i had done outside in the garden (there's a railway nearby...). The chamber orchestra bit in the middle was played live to see where it would go. I then added an old phonograph treatment cos' i was thinking of Blade Runner when Rachel plays the piano and 2 lines of music are mixed together. enjoy.

whole project is here : http://ombilicum.bandcamp.com/album/ombilicum-v-dreamlands

my week-end ambient pick #15 : David Peck

Sorry, I was away for some time and skipped a pick;
There's one that will easily replace your radio station news groaning in the kitchen on sunday morning. A rather spooky futurist track (there's a gothic choir in the background at some time).
Guy is David Peck, from Indianapolis, US :  http://dvdpck.tumblr.com/
